Authentic Leadership Development

What is ‘authentic leadership’?

Authentic is defined as: a) genuine, b) reliable and c) trustworthy.

Lead is defined as: a) cause to go with one especially by guiding or showing the way,
b) direct the actions or opinions of, c) guide by persuasion or example or argument and
d) be in charge.

So we are looking at what it takes to be genuine, reliable and trustworthy in how you guide, persuade or direct others.

The Leadership context

Taking a stand means having a clear vision and communicating it articulately, showing ways of achieving the vision. The passion in the vision inspires others to follow and to seek the opportunities of the vision, this works in the dimensions of emotion and spirituality, not simply cognitive reasoning.

This demands the skills of:

  • Authentic communication,
  • Managing emotions – yours and others,
  • Providing a real sense of purpose and meaning,
  • Living and working to clear values.

A leader requires great self-awareness to achieve these skills, which is a pre-requisite for authentic leaders, made easier because they are doing what they believe in and are open and collaborative creators. Our programme aims to provide your leaders with a high level of self awareness combined with these four essential behavioural, communication and relationship skills.

We have an international team of highly experienced, accredited business performance coaches which allows us to offer you on-site and off-site coaching support anywhere in Europe. And, if required, we have links with US, Middle and Far East coaching organisations to extend our reach beyond Europe. Our team can provide clinic based or individual session based coaching, tailored to individual managers needs either purely face to face or with a blend of face to face and eCoaching (telephone and email) support. The same team designs and delivers our coaching and facilitating skills transfer workshops where the accent is on experiential learning and the development of high level communication and interpersonal relationship skills. These are the skills which are vital to enabling your managers to lead by values and to create the all important ‘coaching for performance’ culture.
